Founded by Madam Old, OldSoWhat grew from many years of travelling and sourcing through her work as a film producer across film, television, celebrity interviews, fashion videos and photography. Along the way, she sourced costumes, props, clothing, bags, shoes, accessories and jewellery for different productions. Through this work, she discovered rare and beautiful pieces from many periods, from the Victorian era to the 1980s and beyond. Some pieces were simply too special to leave behind. Over time, these discoveries became OldSoWhat: a personal collection shaped by craftsmanship, character, history and instinct. Vintage, retro, gothic, antique or simply old, OldSoWhat is not restricted to one era, label or style. Each piece is selected because of its design, workmanship, unusual details or the story it carries. Today, the collection includes carefully curated clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, jewellery and objects gathered through years of exploring people, places and the past.
The OldSoWhat Standard: Every piece is carefully selected, researched, photographed and described before it is offered for sale. Brand, period, materials and construction are assessed through available details such as labels, hardware, fabric, stitching, workmanship, provenance and comparison with known examples. Items are sourced through different channels and previous owners. As part of their history, vintage pieces may show signs of age, wear, patina or small imperfections. Their condition, measurements and visible details are presented as clearly as possible through photographs and written descriptions.
